Meet Dr. Waterhouse

Dr. Jeff Waterhouse was born in Logan, Utah and was raised in Farmington and Woods Cross. He attended the University of Utah and graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.  Subsequently, he decided that a career serving people face to face suited him better and went back to school to become an orthodontist.

He attended Marquette University School of Dentistry, graduating second in his class, summa cume laude in 2008.  He earned numerous awards and a Certificate of Specialty in Orthodontics along with a Masters Degree in Science for completing a research project and thesis.  He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Utah Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontics.

He has been practicing in Goodland, Kansas since graduating in 2010.  He and his family moved to Utah a few years ago and opened a practice in Centerville as well.  He has been commuting to maintain the practice in Kansas and has been fortunate to serve the needs of a small, tight-knit rural community.  He is excited to have the opportunity to serve the community in Cache Valley! He loves what he does and gets a lot of satisfaction out of helping people on a personal level.

He, along with his lovely wife Jennifer, and their three boys (Ryan, Andrew and Jonah) have been enjoying all that Utah has to offer since moving back. They love to camp, hike, bike and explore the natural beauty from the desert to the mountains. They enjoy being active members of their church, neighborhood and community. Dr. Waterhouse looks forward to delivering excellent care to you and your family and friends.

About Orthodontics

Answers to common questions

Why Orthodontics?

More benefits than just a great smile.

Many patients come to our office because they dislike their smile and understand that there is no better time than now, to begin smiling with confidence. However, there are many other benefits of orthodontic treatment, including easier cleaning of teeth, improved biting and chewing, increased longevity and durability of teeth, improvement of facial development, and relief from joint pain and headaches.

Do I need a referral?

Accepting patients with or without a referral.

While we definitely appreciate our referring dentists, a dentist referral is not required to receive treatment at Summit Creek Orthodontics. In fact, many of our patients join our practice on the recommendation of family and friends who are currently experiencing, or have already experienced, the excellent clinical results of orthodontic care at Summit Creek Orthodontics.

When to Start?

Depending on age or situation, it might be now.

Children

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that an orthodontic consultation take place by 7 years of age. Dr. Waterhouse evaluates each child to determine if orthodontic treatment is required and whether to begin treatment immediately or wait until the child is older. When treatment is needed for a younger child, we call this Phase I, or interceptive orthodontics. This treatment is performed to remedy problems before they become worse. When orthodontic treatment is required as a child, future treatment is easier, quicker, and more economical.

Teens

The timing of orthodontic treatment of teenagers depends on the problems to be addressed, and their severity. Treatment is most efficient when children are growing and their bone is still developing. Most comprehensive orthodontic treatment of teenagers begins when all permanent teeth have erupted, or are close to eruption. When teenagers are not quite ready for treatment, Dr. Waterhouse will evaluate teens every 6 months to determine the optimal time to begin.

Adults

The best time to begin treatment as an adult is now. Why put off having that perfect smile and bite you’ve been waiting for? It’s never too late to enjoy the benefits of orthodontics.
